Mosques

Aladža Mosque

It was built in 1549 from the carved tuff, while the dome was made of brick. The specificity and value of the Aladža Mosque was in a lush and multicolored wall decor, which covered the outer walls and the interior of the porch. In a more free translation, “aladža” means colorful, and from there it got the name of the “colorful mosque” because it was decorated with ornaments.It was built by Hasan Nezir originally from these areas (village Grdijevići).It is located in the center of Foča and is one of the most beautiful mosques in BH.

Musluk Mosque

The mosque was built by Atik-pasha in 1546 and at that time it was the richest mosque in this region. The name “musluk” only means the public fountain and the name of the Foča settlement, the mosque at the fountain. Specificity is the signature of the traveler Evlija Čelebija. It was renovated in 2007.

Careva Mosque

It was built by Sultan Bajazit II in 1501. Alongside the mosque, there were accompanying objects of the Islamic community (offices, warehouses, harem, etc.). The mosque was restored and reopened for believers in May 2017.
